THE OFFICE OF CHARTER SCHOOLS IS COMMITTED TO SERVICE
In an effort to address the varying needs of Oakland's charter schools, further strengthen high quality departments within the District, and in some cases to generate additional revenue; the District continually seeks to develop a variety of service areas to make available to Oakland's charter schools.
Each year OCS conducts a Charter Leader Workshop. During the workshop, a review of customer service provided is included.

OFFICE OF CHARTER SCHOOLS PROFESSIONAL "LENDING LIBRARY"::
- In an effort to provide resources for instructional leadership, which is at the heart of all quality schools, we maintain a large array of educational texts that are always available for check-out to school leaders. Titles include: Girls, Social Class, and Literacy, Fontous & Pinell Leveled Books K-8, and Uncovering Student Thinking in Mathematics. We have many standards, as well as hard to find titles. We have a wide selection dedicated to adolescence, as well as a focus on the particular needs of girls and African American students.
FOOD SERVICE: IMPROVED MENU & NUTRITION::
Oakland Unified School District's Nutritional Services Department has undergone an extensive redesign of the food service and menu available to schools. BTSA: NEW TEACHER INDUCTION::
California requires new teachers to complete a two year INDUCTION PROGRAM in order to clear their credentials. OUSD has an outstanding BTSA Program, in which most OUSD charter schools participate.

OUSD Health Services department offers the following services:
- Scoliosis testing
- Hearing testing
- Vision testing
- Dental exam records review
- Immunization records audit & training for site staff to do it themselves

STATE TESTING ADMINISTRATION TRAINING::
OUSD Office of State Testing offers trainings throughout the year for State Test administration. Charter schools may choose various State Testing Administration Training packages to support their needs.
These include:
> Physical Fitness Testing
> CA High School Exit Exam
> STAR Testing
> CELDT Testing
Trainings include all materials necessary for administratoin and continued assistance as needed throughout test administration.

The Office of Charter Schools has developed a strong team of leaders from our Office Manager and Program Analyst, to our Financial Accountant and Coordinator. This team brings expertise in student and family services, financial management, educational leadership, and the law. We expect to be called upon regularly to assist schools directly, as well as reaching out to district and non-district partners to provide much needed support for schools to successfully implement their educational programs.
