A native and former student of the Oakland Unified School District. Worked for Sonoma State University as an Admissions Representative, East Bay Initiative Coordinator, and Student Outreach for more than four years. Returned to Oakland Unified School District and worked with the Human Resource Services & Support-Credentials Department for almost three years.
Guadalupe is working on completing her Thesis paper titled; Promoting College Access For Low-Income Students: Evaluation of a College Prep Program.

Worked for Lawyers for Children in New York City and Legal Services for Children in San Francisco representing students in abuse, neglect and school discipline - Special Education cases. Taught 1st/2nd grade in a multi-age independent school.

After 20 years of practicing energy law, moved into the field of education full time after serving 8 years on the Board of Education for Alameda Unified. Served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director for Alternatives in Action's charter high school, youth development and preschool programs in Alameda; most recently served as COO for Stanford New Schools in East Palo Alto.
Gail and her husband have three adult children. She loves reading, theater, and scuba diving.
